Meet Carrie, a quirky sexpert with an open mind and an eye on science.

I grew up in a small town in the Florida panhandle where the topic of sex was discussed through hushed whispers in the back of beauty parlors. Imagine my surprise when I found my dad’s Hustler magazines, scantily hidden in his office bathroom. I remember thinking that I should feel more shocked by these images and less curious about the people in them. It took me until adulthood to realize that the perceived need to feel shock (more like shame) was a societal issue, not my own.

As a therapist, I come into a session with an empathetic, but matter-of-fact approach to sex and human desire. I understand that the sexual exploration of fantasies can feel confusing if they fall outside of what culture has decided is the “norm”. My goal, as your therapist, is to create a non-judgmental, sex positive, and empowering space to be curious about these feelings without the need to cure, label, or dismiss them.

My favorite human experience is belly laughs through tears. I guess this is why I can quote so many lines of Steel Magnolias. On the flip side, I love horror movies and have a not-so-secret desire to have a ghost hunting crew. In my downtime, I like to explore this weird world with my family and rescue pupper, listen to true crime podcasts while doing jigsaw puzzles, and sing way too loud 80’s New Wave tunes.
